May 08, 2017 · VMware protocols, Blast vs HTML access vs PCoIP, real life scenario. VMware has a number of protocols available with VMware Horizon product. PCoIP and Blast being the ones we use with customers. Blast of course is the protocol they’ve been pushing more and more. For a browser only scenario HTML access is available.
VMware recently announced the release of the Blast Extreme protocol in VMware Horizon 7, built on the H.264 video codec.A lot of claims have been made that Blast Extreme is now at feature and performance parity with Teradici’s PCoIP or that VMware will eventually drop support of PCoIP. NetScaler Gateway 12.0 supports the PC-over-IP (PCoIP) protocol, which is the remote display protocol for several non-Citrix VDI solutions, including VMware Horizon View. PCoIP is analogous to Citrix HDX/ICA protocol and Microsoft RDP protocol. PCoIP uses UDP port 4172. This article provides build numbers and versions of ESXi/ESX. This table lists the ESXi build numbers and versions: Express Patch 1a ESXi650-201703002 3/28/2017 5224529 N/A ESXi 6.5. Mark Benson described our Security Server architecture in his posting Secure Remote Access with View and PCoIP. I am very pleased to announce the commercial availability of the View Security Server with native PCoIP support over UDP as part of the View 4.6 release We recommend reviewing the PCoIP Protocol Virtual Desktop Network Design Checklist from Teradici and the VMware View 5 PCoIP Network Optimization Guide for specific requirements and PCoIP best practices for network design and configuration. Jun 19, 2015 · PC-over-IP (PCoIP) is a remote display protocol that delivers an optimal user experience for remote desktops and applications by adapting to the available network bandwidth. In VMware Horizon 6 , end users with Horizon Clients installed on their endpoints can connect to their View virtual desktops through PCoIP.
If you follow VMware View news, then you will know that VMware View has a PCoIP client for both Windows & iPads. In addition there is different VMware View Clients that run on Linux/Mac/Android by VMware and third parties, but all of these do not support PCoIP and run only RDP. The Wyse 5030 PCoIP zero client is a fully functional endpoint for VMware and Amazon WorkSpaces that delivers a true PC-like experience and offers the full benefits of an efficient and secure centralized computing environment, with dual display support, multimedia playback, HD audio and four USB ports. On a Zero client the configuration to use PCoIP will need the URL to a Load balanced or single Connection server. Using the RDP configuration on the Zero Client and making sure that RDP is setup and ready on the VM will do the trick.

PCoIP Technology Explained. PCoIP Technology covers a new design in display compression to connect users over existing networks. PCoIP technology allows all enterprise desktops, from task workers to power users, to be centrally located and managed in the data center, while providing the remote user with an exceptional user experience. In a VMware View environment usually PCoIP protocol is preferred to the RDP one due to several reasons. I don’t want to spend too much time about the latency, throughput, reactivity, user experience different between those two protocols… in most cases PCoIP is better compared to RDP.
