It makes best use of this level of bandwidth to deliver 60fps across quad-monitors, but requires custom hardware on the host and a special kind of client – a desktop/laptop or stock thinclient won’t do.┬áOn the other hand, RDP works with a broad range of thinclients, functions effectively over wide area networks and allows for the 9: Use QoS to reserve bandwidth QoS stands for quality of service. It is a bandwidth reservation mechanism that was first introduced in Windows 2000, and it's still around today. This is a good "guide" for your usage questions. Now, there is a free bandwidth monitor but it must be installed on each machine using a connection to get the accurate usage data. This too is to be used as a "guide" only because it does not take into consideration the roaming onto other carriers towers and such when using a jetpack. http Things like screen resolution, what’s shown on the screen (ex: static vs dynamic content), file downloads, etc. will all affect how much data you use. I’ve seen RDP use as little 10MB per hour and in excess of 1GB per hour on the other extreme. I stream my plex quite a lot and the bandwidth usage is just off the charts. I only have 20 GB left of the 1 TB and still got 9 more days to go until the bandwidth usage resets. So, my question is, for example lets take a Bluray REMUX file which has an average video bitrate of 30-33 MB/s.

"Hourly bandwidth consumption at rates like these can vary from ~12M to 3.4G+. Unless you are watching video over RDP, the higher end of the ladder is highly unlikely. For normal activity at 1024x768 resolution with standard settings I'd estimate about ~25M per hour." (c) John T

On a low bandwidth connection these applications compete for available Troubleshooting User Experience over RDP | itopia Help Center RDP attains very low bandwidth usage in two ways: Adjustment Protocol: RDP adjusts bandwidth usage per user, depending on the application and scenario. Unlike other screen scrape approaches that use a constant amount of bandwidth, RDP tries to adjust and reduce bandwidth usage to zero when the content displayed on the screen does change.

How much bandwith does Remote Desktop Connection take? If all you do is connect to a remote box and leave it sitting there, it ain't gonna be using any bandwidth. If all you're doing is playing FreeCell or Solitaire, then it's still probably not going to be using a lot of bandwidth. If you're editing graphics remotely in Photoshop or GIMP, then I imagine it would be using quite a fair chunk of What is Bandwidth and How Much Do You Need?
